The Story of The Beanery Coffee Roasters

We, Tom and Ellen Stevens, started roasting coffee in the carport in 2004.  With Tom's background as an environmental engineer, and Ellen's as an entrepreneur and economics professor, it wasn't long before The Beanery Coffee Roasters was moved to Williams Street in 2005, where we could expand the business to roast, cup, and blend some of the finest coffees in the world.

With the coming and going of several VSU students, and then the addition of our son Will Stevens as a roaster in 2009, we have grown and made it our business to continuously learn about and share the craft of roasting coffee. We attend industry workshops and trade shows, and share information with other specialty coffee roasters in our journey to be the best we can be. We visit origin countries and meet coffee farmers, exporters, and importers to gain an understanding of all steps in the coffee supply chain. 

And we share our love of coffee with our community through coffee cuppings, donations of coffee, and classroom field trips to our roastery.

Coffee shops, churches, offices, and restaurants in Valdosta, Albany, Tallahassee, South Georgia, North Florida, and Jacksonville use coffee from The Beanery.  Nothing thrills us more than sharing the pure enjoyment of an excellent cup of coffee with a customer or coffee shop owner.
