Nicaragua Selva Negra

Grind:

Quantity/Price:

The coffee of the day at The Beanery today was from the Selva Negra estate in Nicaragua, near Matagalpa. The farm is certified organic, Bird-Friendly, and Rainforest Alliance.  Lots of rustic tree cover, variety of birds, other crops, etc.

Steve and Heddy Franklin, of JavaVino in Atlanta, distribute green coffee in the U.S. for the farm. Heddy is the farm-owners’ daughter.

Did I say the coffee is fabulous? Roasted to a Full City, it has the perfect amount of brightness, round balanced flavor, and pleasant finish. I believe this coffee is my current favorite. Oh, it even produces an intense and flavorful espresso. Just a little too fruity to be used in a latte, but a real flavor experience as a single shot.

Roast Level: City Plus (medium)
Flavor Profile: Subtle brightness, chocolate, a pleasant suggestion of basmati rice in the aroma
